"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you."

Maya Angelou

I am delighted you're taking some time to explore psychotherapy.
When we work together I will support you through the amazing process of reframing your story.

Together we will witness the changes you make when you let go of limiting beliefs that have held you back from living the life you deserve, and when you have moments of clarity and shifts occur, we will build on those and identify them together.

The space we create together is safe, confidential and designed specifically with you in mind. I am so honoured to be part of your journey.

Every aspect of your life can be told through stories. Stories you tell yourself, the story of your lived experience and stories others have projected onto you. Your story is as unique as you are.

During psychotherapy, I will be your fellow traveller, as we navigate the past and explore the future. Together we will uncover how your stories have impacted your life. We will identify your strengths, explore your dreams and discover ways to reframe your stories so you are able to make healthy choices and build the life you want without fear.

Individual Psychotherapy

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Finding the right psychotherapist starts with asking yourself the right questions.

Questions to consider:
Why therapy now?
Did something trigger this feeling?
Is it something new or was it hidden and has recently come to the surface?
What do I want from my psychotherapist?
What outcome do I hope for?
What am I prepared to do to reach my goal?

Asking some self-reflective questions will help you identify your needs and prepare you to start your search with clarity of mind.

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a place to explore your feelings, discover your inner world and learn about yourself. As your psychotherapist, I can guide you to witness how the relationship you have with yourself impacts your experiences and the relationship you have with others.

Often people seek psychotherapy for advice, but a psychotherapist should never give direct advice.

Offering advice is not psychotherapy. If a therapist tells you what to do, or gives you advice, the therapist is disempowering your ability to find an answer and prevents you from taking responsibility. A psychotherapist can, however, provide a directive approach, which is what I do in my practice.

How long does therapy take?

Psychotherapy takes time and everyone’s experience on this path is different. There is no quick fix and I design each session with your unique needs in mind. At the end of each session we will do a check-in and talk about how you feel about your progression.

What is your practicing approach?

Through a client-centered approach built on the foundation of a strong therapeutic alliance, we work together in a transparent and authentic manner that supports the integration of change. Utilizing an eclectic approach I support clients to discover their strengths and explore a path they can choose rather than one they feel has been chosen for them.

I create a safe and compassionate space where clients can share their stories without fear of judgment. Utilizing an empowering, compassionate, and strength-based framework, I guide clients towards a narrative that helps bring positive changes to their lives, offer a new perspective, and an overall improvement in the quality of their relationship with themselves and others.

Will my benefits cover your fee?

I am a Registered Psychotherapist. My registration number is 009017.

Most private healthcare plans do cover Registered Psychotherapists. CRA also accepts registered psychotherapy receipts as part of medical expense claims at the end of each tax year.

If you have other questions please contact me here so we can chat in person.

What will my first session be like?

During your first session, we will complete some intake questions.

It is a pretty straight forward process and gives me the opportunity to become familiar with your journey.

We will also discuss your goals for therapy and I can answer any other questions you may have.

How do I start therapy with you?

I offer a free 30-minute phone consultation so we can explore your needs and if we are a good fit together.

Once we have made contact and established we will work well together, I will send you my consent form. This will include my confidentiality practices and it serves as an agreement between us.

You can reach me here to set up the call.

How do I do sessions with you?

All of my sessions are offered online,  and use a platform that is confidential and legislatively approved. Each session can be held in a confidential space from the comfort of your home.

What is my investment for each session?

Psychotherapy sessions are $160 per hour.

Payment is accepted over e-transfer. I will provide you with receipts immediately after the session, which can be used with your healthcare provider or at the end of the year as a medical expense with CRA.

What if I need to cancel a session?

Cancellations made 48 hours in advance will not be charged; if however a session is cancelled without 48 hours notice the regular session fee will apply. In the event that I cannot make our session, you will be offered a free session.

Cancellations by either of us due to an emergency or illness will not be subject to a fee.
